The FAME project is an ambitious strategic transnational co-operation project which will enable the protection of the Atlantic marine environment.

The consortium of this project is compose by 7 partners from 5 countries (Portugal, Spain, France, United-Kingdom and Ireland) who have interest, knowledge and expertise in the marine environment, ranging from seabird tracking & monitoring to mapping, data analysis and engagement with the offshore renewable energy and fisheries sectors.

Marine wildlife does not respect country boundaries, and so by working transnationally the partners will be able to safeguard the Future of the Atlantic Marine Environment.
The partners will monitor and track seabirds throughout the Area and, by combining this data with oceanographic information, produce comprehensive maps to inform the designation of MPAs (Marine Protected Areas).

The WavEC has as main role to frame the different marine uses with the marine renewables (wave and wind). It is expected the production of Guidelines /recommendations to assess the environmental impact on seabirds and cetaceans from wave and offshore wind energy; engage stakeholders through two dedicated workshops (Portugal and International).

Partners:
RSPB – Royal Society for the protection of Birds (Coordenador)
